Simon Peter Carman Murder has shocked both Australia and Thailand after an Australian truck driver was accused of killing a 17-year-old Thai girl. Police arrested Simon Peter Carman at Bangkok airport while he was allegedly trying to leave the country. He now faces serious charges, including murder, hiding a body, and abducting a minor.
The 45-year-old is originally from Australia and previously worked as a truck driver. He later moved to Thailand, where he lived alone in a rented apartment in Jomtien. Former neighbours in Australia described him as a quiet man who mostly kept to himself. People who knew him in Thailand also said he lived alone and had very few friends.
According to Thai police, Carman met 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla in Pattaya before taking her to his apartment. CCTV footage reportedly showed the pair entering the building together. Hours later, cameras allegedly captured Carman leaving with a large suitcase. Police later found the suitcase near railway tracks, with the teenager’s body inside.
Investigators say the girl suffered facial injuries and died after being strangled. Carman reportedly claimed there was a struggle after an argument over payment and said he acted in self-defence. Police also found scratch marks on his body during his arrest.
The Simon Peter Carman Murder case has deeply saddened the victim’s family. They described Tunchanok as a helpful and hardworking teenager who supported her family whenever possible. Her parents have called for the strongest possible punishment.
If convicted, Carman could face life imprisonment or the death penalty under Thai law. The investigation remains ongoing.
