Shreyas Iyer Injury Update: Fans Worried After Sudden On-Field Collapse

Shreyas Iyer injury update

Shreyas Iyer injury update has dealt another major blow to India during the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. The Indian vice-captain got injured while attempting a diving catch to dismiss Alex Carey in the 34th over.

The incident happened when Carey mistimed a shot and Iyer sprinted from backward point to take a brilliant catch. However, he landed awkwardly on his left side and appeared to be in severe pain. Medical staff rushed in immediately, and Iyer walked off clutching his left side after brief treatment on the field.

The Shreyas Iyer injury update comes as another setback for India, who are already struggling with fitness concerns. Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the match due to a left quadriceps strain sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide. Captain Shubman Gill confirmed before the toss that Arshdeep Singh and Nitish were replaced by Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav.

According to the BCCI, Nitish’s recovery is being monitored daily by the medical team. His poor show in Adelaide, with just eight runs and 24 runs conceded in three overs, had already raised concerns.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh’s absence has not been officially explained, though he appeared to struggle with cramps in the previous match.

With Iyer’s latest setback, India’s list of injuries continues to grow ahead of the upcoming T20 series against Australia. The team’s management now faces an urgent task to address these recurring fitness issues before the next series begins.
