SHARJAH – Sharjah is set to host the fourth and final session of the fourth parliamentary term of the Arab Parliament for the Child in mid-July 2026, reaffirming the emirate’s leading role in empowering Arab youth and promoting regional cooperation focused on children’s development.

The event will gather members from across the Arab world under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, with continued support and supervision from the League’s Secretary-General.

The closing session will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, whose longstanding commitment to supporting Arab children has helped establish Sharjah as a regional hub for youth empowerment and parliamentary engagement.

The Arab Parliament for the Child, headquartered in Sharjah, has become a prominent platform for preparing future leaders and encouraging a culture of dialogue, constructive participation, and responsible expression among children across the Arab world.

The upcoming session will conclude a comprehensive parliamentary programme carried out during the Parliament’s fourth term since its launch.

The first session of the current parliamentary term was held in February 2025 and included the election of the Parliament’s President and two Vice-Presidents, as well as the formation of permanent parliamentary committees tasked with discussing issues affecting Arab children.

The second session, organised in July 2025, focused on “The cultural identity of the Arab child” and highlighted the importance of preserving Arab heritage and values amid modern global changes.

The third session, held in February 2026 under the theme “Cybersecurity: Towards child-friendly content for Arab children,” addressed digital safety and explored ways to protect children online while ensuring secure, beneficial digital experiences.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, said that preparations for the upcoming session are progressing rapidly, in cooperation with various partners, to ensure the successful organization of the event in Sharjah.

He described the session as a fitting conclusion to the Parliament’s fourth term, noting that Arab children participating in the initiative since 2019 have demonstrated remarkable awareness, responsibility, and maturity as they discuss issues affecting their future.

Al Barout added that the Parliament’s General Secretariat remains committed to providing an empowering environment that transforms children’s ideas and aspirations into practical recommendations submitted to the League of Arab States.

He also praised the ongoing cooperation between Arab countries and organizations concerned with child welfare, saying such partnerships contribute significantly to the success of parliamentary initiatives and support sustainable development efforts focused on the well-being and advancement of Arab children.
