Sharjah Department of Culture Supports New Moroccan Poetry Collections

Sharjah Department of Culture

Sharjah Department of Culture plays a leading role in promoting Arab creativity, and this mission was highlighted during the latest “Al-Diwan” session hosted by the Marrakech Poetry House. The event celebrated three new poetry collections published under the Arab Creativity series, strengthening cultural ties and honouring Moroccan poets. The Sharjah Department of Culture continues to open doors for emerging and established writers, helping them reach wider Arab readers.

The celebrated works — Prophecy of the Mirror, I Lost You to the Gust of Confession and Water the Colour of Drowning — add fresh perspectives to the Arab literary scene. These titles enrich libraries with new poetic, critical and artistic expressions. Through this partnership, Moroccan poets gain opportunities to publish, distribute and share their voices across the region. This reflects the Sharjah Department of Culture’s dedication to supporting literary growth and cultural exchange.

During the event, poets Halima El Ismaili, Abdelrahman Ahmou and Karim Ait El Haj presented readings from their new books. They praised Sharjah’s continuous encouragement for Arab poetic voices and its efforts to bring contemporary Moroccan poetry to a wider audience. Their appreciation highlighted how cultural cooperation helps preserve and promote diverse artistic identities.

The “Al-Diwan” session also featured book signings and live musical performances by artists Hajiba and Mohamed Ait El Qadi, creating a vibrant atmosphere of art and literature. As part of the 2025/2026 cultural season, this event reflects growing creative energy and new horizons in Moroccan poetry. With more titles planned, the Sharjah Department of Culture continues to enrich Arab libraries and strengthen cultural dialogue.
