Sharjah Book Authority boosts cultural and publishing ties between the Arab world and Greece during the 22nd Thessaloniki International Book Fair 2026. The event took place at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre in Greece. The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) met publishers, cultural groups, and Greek officials to discuss translation, publishing, and literary exchange.

The meetings focused on increasing the reach of Arabic books in European and Balkan markets. SBA also explored ways to introduce more Greek and Balkan literature to Arab readers. These discussions aimed to build stronger partnerships between Arab and Greek publishers.

Sharjah Book Authority boosts global cultural cooperation through major projects such as the Sharjah International Book Fair, Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, and the International Booksellers Conference. SBA highlighted its support for publishing, translation, and creative industries. The authority also promoted Sharjah as an international center for books and culture.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, said that Sharjah believes books and culture help people understand each other better. He added that Greece has an important place in world culture and intellectual history. He said the fair created valuable chances for translation projects and publishing partnerships.

Mansour Al Hassani, Director of Publishing Services at SBA, said the participation helped strengthen professional ties between Arab and Greek publishers. He explained that the meetings opened new doors for Arabic literature in Europe.

The Thessaloniki International Book Fair is one of Southeast Europe’s leading cultural events. It brings together publishers, writers, and cultural institutions from around the world.
