Shahid Kapoor Opens Up on Feeling ‘Intimidated’ by Vishal Bhardwaj Before First Collaboration

Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor recently made candid revelations about his early working experience with acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, admitting that he felt “very intimidated” when he first signed on to work with him. The actor’s comments came during the high-profile trailer launch of their upcoming film O’ Romeo.

Shahid, who has delivered some of his most memorable performances under Bhardwaj’s direction, including the critically acclaimed Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon, shared that stepping into his first project with the director was a nerve-racking experience. He revealed that he once asked Bhardwaj why he had been chosen for the role, saying he felt he “had done nothing” to deserve it — a moment he described as intimidating but ultimately rewarding.

The actor also spoke warmly about his long creative partnership with Bhardwaj, emphasising how working on complex, character-driven stories has shaped his craft. Shahid expressed gratitude for the opportunities and trust placed in him, calling himself fortunate to be part of the director’s body of work.

O’ Romeo, set to release on February 13, marks the latest collaboration between the duo and reunites them after several years. The action-drama has generated strong buzz for its gripping narrative and ensemble cast, further heightening anticipation among audiences.

Shahid’s remarks reflect the respect and mutual admiration between actor and director, showcasing how their creative chemistry has become one of Bollywood’s most respected partnerships.
