Norrie & Fery put GB in control in Davis Cup tie

Davis Cup 2025 Cameron Norrie gave Great Britain an early edge in their tie against Poland. Along with debutant Arthur Fery, Norrie helped the team secure a 2-0 lead in Gdynia. The win puts Britain just one step away from reaching the next stage of the tournament.

Davis Cup 2025 Cameron Norrie, ranked 34th in the world, battled past 19-year-old Tomasz Berkieta, who sits at 545 in the rankings. Norrie survived set points in a tight first-set tie-break before sealing victory 7-6 (11-9), 6-4. His experience and calmness under pressure were key to Britain’s first point of the tie.

Arthur Fery, ranked 227, then produced a confident display against Olaf Pieczkowski. The 23-year-old, making his Davis Cup debut after Jacob Fearnley’s injury withdrawal, won 6-4, 6-2. Fery impressed with his control, converting four of his 11 break points and showing maturity beyond his ranking.

The results leave Great Britain needing just one more win to qualify for the Davis Cup first round in February 2026. Victory would keep their elite status, while defeat could push them into a play-off and possible relegation to World Group 2.

On Saturday, doubles specialists Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash will make their Davis Cup debut, with reverse singles to follow. Despite the absence of world number seven Jack Draper due to injury, Britain’s team has shown resilience.

With Norrie leading the way and Fery making a strong debut, Great Britain are well placed to finish the tie in style and move closer to the 2026 Davis Cup title race.
