Messi Inter Miami contract extension

Lionel Messi has officially signed a new Messi Inter Miami contract extension, Major League Soccer (MLS) confirmed on Thursday. The Argentine superstar will now stay with Inter Miami until the end of the 2028 season.

A video shared by Inter Miami on X showed Messi signing the new deal at a table inside the club’s new stadium, currently under construction, with the caption “He’s Home.” The Messi Inter Miami contract extension ensures the 38-year-old World Cup winner will continue playing in MLS well beyond the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Messi’s current contract was set to expire at the end of the 2025 season, and the new deal was widely expected after both the player and the club agreed to continue their partnership. Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has transformed the team and boosted the popularity of football in the United States.

In the 2025 MLS season, Messi scored 29 goals in 28 matches and won the Golden Boot. He also became the fastest player to reach 40 goals in MLS history and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2024.

Before joining Inter Miami, Messi spent nearly two decades at Barcelona, winning 10 La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies. He also led Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup and has scored 114 international goals so far.

Messi’s extended stay in Miami promises more memorable moments for fans and continued growth for Major League Soccer.
