DUBAI — Linda Yaccarino announced on Wednesday that she is stepping down as CEO of X, the Elon Musk-owned social media platform, after two transformative years at the helm. The announcement was made in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), where she called the role the “opportunity of a lifetime.”
“When Elon Musk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime,” Yaccarino wrote. “I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”
Yaccarino took over as CEO during a critical period of restructuring, guiding the platform through major changes including restoring advertiser confidence and launching key features like Community Notes and the upcoming X Money. She praised the X team for their dedication, highlighting their focus on user safety—especially for children—and platform innovation.
“I’m incredibly proud of the X team — the historic business turnaround we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable,” she added.
As the company looks to integrate more deeply with xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, Yaccarino hinted that this marks a new chapter for the platform. “Now, the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with @xai.”
She ended her announcement on a positive note: “I’ll be cheering you all on as you continue to change the world. As always, I’ll see you on X.”
Yaccarino did not share details about her next steps but confirmed her continued support for the platform.
