Karan Johar Started Crying in Front of Salman Khan During Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Shoot, Actor Got ‘Nervous’: ‘It Was His First Day’

Karan Johar cried on set

Karan Johar cried on set during the shoot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The filmmaker revealed that he became emotional in front of Salman Khan on the first day of shooting the iconic song “Saajanji Ghar Aaye”. He shared this story on Manyavar’s YouTube channel.

Karan said that when he first met Salman, the actor was wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Karan worried it would not match the grand set and Kajol’s elaborate lehenga. He explained, “It was my first time working with Salman Khan, so I was very wound up. I got so stressed that I started crying in front of him.”

Salman looked nervous seeing Karan cry but reassured him. He eventually agreed to wear the black suit that became iconic in the song. Karan described the moment as his first-ever Sangeet song sequence, which turned out perfectly.

Earlier, Karan also shared another story from his assistant director days on Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. He and his team secretly bought an expensive Harley-Davidson jacket for Shah Rukh Khan without telling producer Yash Chopra the actual price. Karan said, “It was a 300-pound jacket in 1994. We told him it cost 50 pounds.”

The stories show Karan Johar’s dedication and emotional side behind Bollywood’s most memorable scenes. Fans still cherish Kuch Kuch Hota Hai moments, especially Salman Khan’s entry in a black suit.
