International Arabic Testing Framework: ALECGS Showcases Publications Serving the Arabic Language at SIBF

International Arabic Testing Framework

The International Arabic Testing Framework was one of the main highlights as the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS) showcased its publications at the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2025). The event, organised by the Sharjah Book Authority, provided ALECGS with a platform to promote Arabic language education and its latest academic research.

ALECGS, which operates under the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), presented several scholarly works focused on improving Arabic language teaching and learning. Among these was the International Arabic Testing Framework, a comprehensive three-volume publication designed to set regional and international standards for Arabic language assessment.

The framework includes performance benchmarks for students in grades 1 to 12 and guidelines for designing, administering, and evaluating Arabic proficiency tests. It also features detailed models for assessing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills—helping measure overall linguistic competence in grammar, morphology, and rhetoric.

This initiative aligns with the Gulf leadership’s vision to strengthen Arabic as a key educational and cultural pillar. It also mirrors international models such as PIRLS, supporting educators in evaluating learning outcomes and improving Arabic language curricula.

Through its participation in SIBF, ALECGS reinforces its commitment to enhancing the quality of Arabic language education and integrating modern learning technologies to meet evolving academic standards.
