Indian expat woman Dubai has undergone a rare and lifesaving surgery that helped her lose 15kg overnight. Doctors in Dubai removed a massive 14.5kg ovarian cyst, the size of a full-term baby, from the 30-year-old patient who had been carrying it unknowingly for years.
The Indian expat woman Dubai first noticed something was unusual when her stomach remained large despite her weight loss journey. While she lost inches in other parts of her body, her abdominal size stayed the same. For five years, her condition was mistaken for abdominal obesity and gastric issues until a recent scan revealed the real cause. A giant paraovarian tumour measuring 37cm.
A medical team at Prime Hospital in Dubai, led by Dr Smitha Baluswamy and assisted by Dr Usha Kiran Talakere, performed the surgery on August 16. The cyst was carefully removed intact within one hour to prevent rupture and possible health complications.
After the surgery, the patient’s weight dropped from 75kg to 60kg instantly. She said she felt excited, relieved, and much lighter. The woman was discharged within 48 hours and is now recovering well.
Doctors have urged the public to undergo regular medical check-ups, even in the absence of major symptoms. They highlighted that early diagnosis and timely treatment can prevent severe complications.
This case adds to other extraordinary surgeries in the UAE. Where doctors have previously removed ovarian cysts weighing up to 35kg.
The patient expressed gratitude to the medical team and advised others not to ignore warning signs from their bodies, no matter how small they may seem.
