Huma Qureshi Slams Bollywood

Huma Qureshi Slams Bollywood for showing female assassins in unrealistic and overly glamorous ways. The actress believes women in action films should not always wear tight-fitting clothes or be shown in a hyper-sexualised manner. Speaking about her latest film Baby Do Die Do, she said it is time for better and more realistic female characters in Bollywood.

Huma said her character Baby is different from the usual action heroine. She is a deaf and mute assassin who looks like an ordinary person. According to Huma, this makes the character more believable because she can easily blend into a crowd. She added that this fresh approach is a step in the right direction for women in cinema. Huma Qureshi Slams Bollywood for creating female assassins based on old stereotypes instead of realistic storytelling.

The actress also criticised the way many films present women as glamorous fighters. She said the idea that female assassins must wear revealing clothes comes from patriarchy. Huma believes women can be powerful without being presented through sexualised images. She hopes filmmakers will continue writing stronger and more meaningful roles for women.

Huma also explained that Baby’s disability is not shown as a weakness. Instead, it becomes her greatest strength and helps shape the unique story. She said the film challenges common ideas about women with disabilities by showing them as capable and powerful.

Baby Do Die Do, directed by Nachiket Samant, released in theatres on July 3. The film also stars Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, Seema Pahwa, and Rachit Singh. After this film, Huma will appear in Toxic, starring Yash, which is scheduled to release on August 26.
