House of Poetry Gives a Glimpse Into Praise, History, and Self Through Inspiring Poetic Voices in Sharjah

House of Poetry

House of Poetry welcomed poetry lovers to a special literary evening in Sharjah. The event brought together poets from Morocco, Senegal, and Syria. Critics, writers, and literature fans also attended. The programme celebrated praise poetry, history, and personal expression through powerful readings.

The evening was organised by House of Poetry and hosted by Aya Imam. She welcomed the audience and thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his continued support of culture, literature, and poetry. She said Sharjah has become a leading centre for knowledge and the arts because of this support.

The readings began with Moroccan poet Mohammed Ahmo Al-Ahmadi. He opened with a poem praising the Prophet titled “A Journey to the Biography of the Chosen One.” He later presented “A Wave from the Domes of Samarkand,” which featured rich language, smooth rhythm, and different themes.

Serigne Fadl Ndiaye from Senegal, a student at Al Qasimia University, also started with a poem praising the Prophet. He then recited “Stranger on the Gulf,” inspired by the famous title of Iraqi poet Badr Shakir al-Sayyab. The poem expressed the pain and challenges of exile in a personal way.

The evening ended with Syrian poet Suleiman Al-Ibrahim. His poem “Question Mark” explored personal feelings and everyday reality through gentle rhythm and meaningful imagery. At the end of the programme, poet Mohammed Abdullah Al-Buraiki honoured the participating poets and presenter. The House of Poetry evening once again highlighted Sharjah’s strong commitment to promoting poetry, culture, and literary creativity.
