Sharjah’s Ruler has approved a comprehensive health insurance plan for citizens aged 45 and above, to be implemented at the University Hospital in Sharjah.
The insurance program, set to launch on Monday, August 12, is valued at Dh80 million.
Beneficiaries will receive an electronic link to activate their insurance, which will be linked to their Emirates ID. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority during the ‘Direct Line’ program.
Crackdown on unlicensed food delivery vehicles
The Sharjah Municipality is intensifying its inspection campaigns on food transport and delivery vehicles operating without proper permits. These surprise inspections aim to ensure safe food for consumers and protect public health across the emirate.
Jamal Al Mazmi, director of the Health Control and Safety Department, emphasized the importance of inspecting food transport vehicles as rigorously as food establishments, urging residents and businesses to avoid unlicensed operations due to the significant risks they pose.
Food transport vehicles in Sharjah must meet strict health and safety standards, including proper temperature control and vehicle suitability for the types of food they carry.
Operators are required to comply with guidelines to prevent overcrowding, maintain cleanliness, and ensure that vehicles are exclusively used for food transportation. These efforts by the Sharjah Municipality aim to enhance food safety and safeguard public health throughout the emirate.
