Bangladesh Cricketers Threaten Total Boycott Unless BCB Director Resigns Immediately

Bangladesh cricketers threaten total boycott

Bangladesh cricketers threaten total boycott after BCB Director M Nazmul Islam’s controversial remarks. The Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) said players will refuse to play all formats unless he resigns.

CWAB president Mohammad Mithun gave Nazmul Islam an ultimatum to step down by 1 PM Thursday. He said the resignation must happen before the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match starts. The controversy began when Nazmul Islam called former captain Tamim Iqbal an “Indian agent.”

Players, including Mominul Haque, Taskin Ahmed, and Taijul Islam, expressed anger on social media. They said such remarks damage Bangladesh cricket and demanded respect for players. Tamim Iqbal also emphasized that sensitive issues should be discussed internally to protect the team’s interests.

The tension comes amid Bangladesh’s uncertain T20 World Cup 2026 trip to India. The BCB requested the ICC to move matches due to player safety concerns after pacer Mustafizur Rahman was released from the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders squad. The ICC reassured BCB about player security and the team’s participation in the tournament.

Bangladesh will start its T20 World Cup on February 7 against West Indies in Kolkata. They will then face Italy, England, and Nepal at various Indian venues. CWAB warned that the players’ boycott could affect these matches if the director does not resign.

Bangladesh cricketers threaten total boycott shows the growing unrest among players. The cricket board must act fast to avoid a crisis. Fans and officials are closely watching how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
