Bahrain Saudi Arabia ferry link will soon become a reality as the two Gulf countries prepare to launch a new passenger sea service. The project aims to boost transport, tourism, and trade between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, announced the plan during the Second Maritime Industries Sustainability Conference in Jeddah. The new service will connect Bahrain’s Khalifa bin Salman Port with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.
Officials said the ferry link will benefit both passengers and cargo transport. It will strengthen regional maritime cooperation and provide travelers with a new option alongside road travel on the King Fahd Causeway. The service is also expected to ease congestion on the current crossing while offering smoother movement of goods between the two countries.
Sheikh Abdullah further noted that discussions are still underway on the King Hamad Causeway project. The proposed 25-kilometre bridge would run parallel to the King Fahd Causeway. It is planned to carry passenger trains, freight trains, and vehicles. Once complete, it will significantly expand connectivity between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
