Al Majarrah Park History brings together art, culture, and recreation in the heart of Sharjah. The newly redesigned park was reopened through a collaboration between the Sharjah Art Foundation and SUPERFLEX. The project combines modern design with the rich cultural background of the area. It also offers visitors a peaceful and creative public space.
Maria Kalaiji, Senior Architect at the Sharjah Art Foundation, said the Foundation worked with international designers including Schul Landscape Architects from Copenhagen and KWY Studio from Lisbon. She explained that the aim was to combine contemporary art, public art, history, and leisure activities in one destination. Al Majarrah Park History reflects this vision by connecting modern architecture with local heritage.
The park is divided into three sections. The first area is a large public garden where families and visitors can relax. The second area includes children’s playgrounds, a dancing fountain, and a climbing net for entertainment. The third section focuses on fitness and sports. It has running tracks and sports courts for different activities.
The redevelopment project was completed with support from Sharjah Municipality and the Sharjah Department of Public Works. The goal was to improve public spaces and strengthen cultural infrastructure in Sharjah. The park also aims to improve the overall visitor experience.
