The Yas Island Sphere project is set to become one of the biggest entertainment developments in the UAE. Abu Dhabi announced that the new Sphere venue will be built on Yas Island with a construction cost of USD 1.7 billion. The project is expected to open by the end of 2029. It will be the first Sphere destination outside the United States.
The new venue will be located between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. It will sit close to many famous attractions on Yas Island. Officials believe the project will attract tourists, artists, investors, and entertainment companies from around the world.
The Yas Island Sphere project will offer advanced immersive experiences. Visitors will enjoy concerts, live shows, global events, and digital entertainment supported by modern technology. The giant Exosphere LED display will also feature creative work from Emirati artists. Immersive productions about Emirati culture and heritage are also planned.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said the project supports the emirate’s long-term vision for culture and tourism. Sphere Entertainment CEO James L. Dolan also praised Abu Dhabi’s strong infrastructure and global position.
The venue is expected to welcome up to 20,000 visitors depending on the event setup. It will also create thousands of jobs during operation stages. Along with events like the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the project will strengthen Yas Island’s image as a leading entertainment destination.
