The UAE government has announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for public sector employees. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed the official dates. The break will begin on Shawwal 1 and end on Shawwal 3, 1446 AH. Work will resume on Shawwal 4.
In the UAE, the moon sighting will take place on March 29. Islamic months last either 29 or 30 days. Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is observed on Shawwal 1.
If the crescent moon appears on March 29, the holiday will start on Sunday, March 30. This will result in a four-day break from March 29 to April 1. Since Saturday is a weekend, employees will get an extended holiday.
However, if the moon is not sighted, Ramadan will last 30 days. In this case, Eid will begin on Monday, March 31. Public sector employees will then enjoy a five-day weekend from March 29 to April 2.
Additionally, government employees in Sharjah will receive a longer break. The emirate follows a Friday-Saturday weekend schedule. If Eid falls on March 30, Sharjah employees will get a five-day holiday from March 28 to April 1.
If Eid starts on March 31, their break will be even longer. They will receive a six-day holiday from March 28 to April 2.
Eid Al Fitr is one of the most anticipated holidays in the UAE. Families gather to celebrate with prayers, feasts, and festivities. The holiday also boosts tourism and shopping across the country.
The exact dates will be confirmed after the official moon sighting. Residents should plan their holidays accordingly.
