Sharjah to make education more affordable with new models

Sharjah

Sharjah is placing a strong focus on making high-quality education more affordable for its residents. The emirate is home to several well-established schools with impressive academic records.

To address this crucial issue, Sharjah will host the Sharjah International Summit on Education Improvement on February 23-24, 2025. The event will spotlight solutions to improve education affordability and explore innovative learning models.

Compared to Dubai, Sharjah schools typically have lower tuition fees, especially for British, IB, and American curricula. In Dubai, schools with similar curricula often charge 30 to 50 percent more. Additionally, Sharjah has fewer premium schools with high-end facilities, which helps keep fees reasonable.

During a press conference for the summit, experts revealed key agenda points. Discussions will cover global education innovations, cost-effective strategies, and best practices for maintaining educational excellence.

“We aim to bring insights on how education is being innovated globally,” said Wajdi Manai, Chair of the Scientific Committee and Senior Advisor for Innovation and Advancement in Education at Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA).

Manai further highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing. “We need more understanding of different models, how they work, and why they succeed,” he added.

Experts stressed that reducing education costs should never compromise quality. Instead, leveraging technology-driven learning, forming public-private partnerships, and optimizing operations can ensure excellence while reducing financial pressures.

Furthermore, the summit will bring together educators, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to exchange ideas and solutions. More than 35 panel discussions and 140 workshops will take place, featuring 190 education specialists from over 30 countries. Topics will include innovative teaching methods, sustainable education models, and promoting equity and inclusion in schools.

Meanwhile, Sharjah is enhancing its support for Students of Determination. Authorities announced the establishment of a new center dedicated to special education needs.

This facility will offer tailored services to help students achieve their full potential. Experts believe this initiative underscores Sharjah’s commitment to accessible and inclusive education.

Both the summit and the special education center reflect Sharjah’s dedication to preparing students for a brighter, more affordable future.
