The United Arab Emirates has launched the first phase of the UAE Blue Visa. Officials announced the details at the World Governments Summit 2025.

In this phase, 20 sustainability experts and innovators will receive the Blue Visa. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) are leading the initiative.

What is the UAE Blue Visa?

The Blue Visa is a 10-year residency permit for individuals making significant contributions to sustainability and environmental protection. It aims to attract experts, activists, and professionals committed to environmental efforts.

Eligible recipients include:

– Supporters of environmental initiatives

– Members of international organizations and corporations

– Representatives of associations and non-governmental organizations

– Winners of global environmental awards

– Distinguished activists and sustainability researchers

The Blue Visa builds on the success of the Golden Visa and Green Residency. These programs attract skilled professionals and investors.

How to Apply for the UAE Blue Visa

The first phase uses an electronic system for applications. Government agencies in sustainability sectors can submit nominations through the ICP website.

Applicants have two main options:

  1. Directly applying through the ICP portal
  2. Receiving a nomination from a UAE authority

The ICP website and mobile app will offer 24/7 access to the Blue Visa service. Applications will follow approved terms and conditions.

By launching the Blue Visa, the UAE strengthens its leadership in sustainability. This initiative encourages global environmental advocates to contribute to the country’s green future.
