Dubai ‘Airport City’ to generate thousands of jobs

Dubai

Dubai South is poised for a population boom in the next “two to three years” as the new passenger terminal at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) takes shape. Currently home to approximately 25,000 residents, the development is expected to accommodate over one million people as the airport becomes fully operational.

The Dh128-billion passenger terminal at DWC will eventually absorb all operations from the current Dubai International Airport over the next decade. Consequently, Dubai is creating an aerotropolis—an expansive “airport city.” Notably, it has already emerged as one of the top five areas in demand for new developments across the emirate, according to Khaleej Times.

Largest Master Development in Dubai

Covering 145 sq km, Dubai South is the largest master development in the emirate. It focuses on the aviation and logistics sectors while incorporating mixed-use and residential communities. Importantly, the ecosystem is designed to support up to 500,000 job opportunities. Additionally, it features a comprehensive “multi-modal transport infrastructure connecting air, land, and sea,” as per the developer’s website.

Once the new airport becomes fully operational, it will significantly boost employment in Dubai South. This expansion will undoubtedly spur the development of properties, offices, retail spaces, hospitals, and other social infrastructure.

Diverse Residential Offerings

Dubai South offers a variety of residential options, including villas, townhouses, mansions, and apartments. Since its inception, the company has launched multiple successful projects, achieving complete sell-outs. Key developments include:

The Pulse Apartments

The Pulse Villas

South Bay

The Pulse Beachfront

South Living

Sakany

Phase 1 of The Pulse Beachfront, comprising 288 units, has recently been completed. Furthermore, the developer aims to deliver an additional 500 units by the end of H1 2025.

Partnerships and Future Developments

South Living has already sold out, with construction underway. Additionally, an agreement with BT Properties, Asia’s largest private property developer, will lead to the development of a gated master community within Dubai South’s Golf District.

As the city continues to position itself as a global hub for business and tourism, the development of Dubai South’s “airport city” promises a transformative impact on the region’s economy and job market.
