The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for fog, and a drop in horizontal visibility, expected to reduce even further at times after a yellow alert was issued for the foggy weather at 2am.
A red alert indicates that residents need to ‘act’ and stay very alert as weather events of unusual severity are predicted. A yellow warning advises residents to ‘stay alert’ during outdoor activities.
Some of the areas that saw fog include Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road (over Ghantout in Abu Dhabi), Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Road towards Dubai (over Ajban in Abu Dhabi), Zayed International Airport, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Khalifa Industrial, Sweihan in Al Ain, Saih Shuaib, Al Haffar, and Al Khatim.
Speed reduction measures have been implemented on multiple roads in Abu Dhabi; drivers are required to be careful and follow the speed restrictions.
Yesterday, on September 10th, dense fog was observed in various regions of the country for the second consecutive day, prompting a red alert to be issued. The misty weather indicates a slow change in the atmospheric conditions.

Today’s weather
According to a forecast by NCM, the weather for today is expected to be fair to partly cloudy at times. It will still be muggy at night and some coastal and inland areas, mainly towards the west, will probably have some fog or mist Thursday morning. There will be light to moderate winds, with occasional gusts during the day, and eastward blowing dust. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
