Overstayed in the UAE? Here’s how to obtain your exit permit easily

Many visitors to the UAE may unintentionally overstay their permitted duration, resulting in a fine of Dh50 for each additional day.

If you find yourself in this situation, it’s essential to clear any outstanding charges and obtain an exit permit before leaving the country.

If you’ve paid your overstay fines, you’ll need an exit permit, also known as an out pass, to exit the UAE. Thankfully, the application process is straightforward and can be done online.

Required Documents

To apply for your exit permit, you will need the following:

  • A personal photo
  • A copy of your passport
  • Your entry visa or residence visa

Fees

The costs associated with applying for an exit permit include:

  • Request fee: Dh200
  • Electronic service fee: Dh150

Payments can only be made online using a credit card.

How to Apply for Your Exit Permit

There are two main ways to apply for an exit permit:

  1. For applicants outside Dubai: Visit a typing center to start the process.
  2. For applicants in Dubai: Follow these steps at your nearest Amer Centre:
    1. Create a User ID or log in with your existing ID on the website.
    2. Select the required service at the reception desk.
    3. Submit the necessary documents to the service employee.
    4. Your documents will be verified.
    5. Pay the applicable fees.
    6. Submit your application.
