In a powerful message of calm and resilience, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reassured the nation that “all is well in the UAE” despite ongoing Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the country.

In a televised address on Saturday evening, the UAE president emphasised unity and strength as the country faces rising regional tensions linked to the war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Sheikh Mohamed also visited five civilians injured during recent incidents — two Emiratis, one Indian, one Sudanese and one Iranian — praising the solidarity shown by the country’s diverse population during the crisis.

“The UAE is attractive, the UAE is beautiful, the UAE is a model,” he said.
“But do not be misled by the UAE’s appearance. The UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh — we are no easy prey.”

UAE vows resilience

The president said the nation remains determined to defend its people and territory, while acknowledging the crucial role played by the armed forces, security services, civil defence teams and the Ministry of Interior.

“I promise everyone that we will emerge stronger than before,” Sheikh Mohamed said, thanking both citizens and expatriates for standing together during the attacks.

He described residents from around the world who live in the UAE as “our guests and extended family,” highlighting the country’s diverse society during a time of crisis.

Missile and drone threats intercepted

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, the country detected 16 ballistic missiles on Saturday, with 15 intercepted by air defence systems and one falling into the sea.

Air defence units also detected 121 drones, intercepting 119 of them, while two fell within UAE territory.

Since the attacks began last week, authorities say the country has detected 221 ballistic missiles and more than 1,300 drones, most of which were intercepted before reaching their targets.

Civilian incidents reported

Despite the successful interceptions, debris from missile interceptions has caused minor incidents.

In Dubai, a motorist died after falling debris struck a vehicle in the Al Barsha area, while fragments from another interception caused minor damage to a building in Dubai Marina.

Authorities also issued safety alerts in Abu Dhabi, urging residents to remain in safe areas during missile interception operations.

Call for diplomacy

Amid the escalating conflict, Sheikh Mohamed also spoke with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, with both leaders condemning attacks on Gulf states and calling for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

Officials stressed that such attacks threaten regional stability and violate international law, urging dialogue to restore peace.

Despite the ongoing threats, authorities say daily life across the UAE continues largely as normal while defence systems remain on high alert.
