UAE Black Points: Four Points Can Be Removed From Your Licence — How Can Drivers Qualify?

UAE Black Points

UAE black points can be removed for eligible drivers through a new road-safety campaign. The UAE Ministry of Interior has opened registration for the annual Day Without Accidents campaign. Drivers can register from August 17, 2026, and those who meet the conditions may have four black points removed from their driving record.

How Can Drivers Remove Four Black Points?

The Day Without Accidents campaign will take place on August 31, 2026. It coincides with the start of the new school year. The campaign aims to encourage motorists to drive carefully and follow traffic rules.

Drivers must register through a link shared on the Ministry of Interior’s official social media account, @MOIUAE. They can scan the QR code in the campaign’s Instagram post and log in using UAE Pass.

To take part, motorists must agree to the campaign’s safety commitments. They must also sign the campaign pledge and follow all campaign terms and conditions.

After completing the registration, participants will receive a certificate by email. The certificate will be sent to the email address connected to their UAE Pass account.

What Safety Rules Must Drivers Follow?

Drivers must follow several important road-safety rules to qualify for the black-point reduction. These rules focus on safer driving and protecting other road users.

Motorists must maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. They must give way to pedestrians and always wear seat belts. Drivers must also follow posted speed limits.

Distracted driving and mobile-phone use must be avoided. Drivers should give priority to emergency vehicles and stay within designated lanes.

They must also make sure their vehicles are roadworthy before starting a journey.

Following these rules is important because the campaign is designed to promote safer driving habits. The goal is not only to encourage careful driving on August 31 but also throughout the year.

Why Is August 31 Important?

August 31 marks the start of the new school year in the UAE. Traffic is expected to become heavier around schools and residential areas as students return.

Motorists are therefore being urged to remain patient and alert. They should pay special attention to children, pedestrians and school buses.

Drivers should also reduce distractions and follow speed limits. These simple steps can help make roads safer for everyone.

What Are UAE Black Points?

UAE black points are penalties added to a driver’s record for certain traffic violations. Minor offences may result in fines, while more serious violations can also lead to black points.

A driver can accumulate between four and 24 black points. If another violation is committed after reaching 24 points, the case may be referred to the UAE courts. A driving licence may then face confiscation or suspension.

The Day Without Accidents campaign gives eligible motorists an opportunity to remove four points by taking part and meeting the required conditions.

Which Violations Carry Four Black Points?

Several traffic violations can result in four black points. These include driving against traffic, using a handheld mobile phone while driving and failing to wear a seat belt.

Other offences include sudden swerving, dangerous reversing, failing to maintain a safe distance and driving at night without lights.

Driving in foggy weather without lights can also result in four black points. Other violations include driving with expired registration, using expired tyres, turning from an undesignated area and failing to follow traffic police instructions.

Motorcyclists who fail to wear a helmet can also receive four black points.

A Chance for Safer Driving

The UAE black points campaign provides eligible drivers with a chance to remove four points while supporting a wider road-safety effort. Registration begins on August 17, and motorists who qualify should carefully follow all campaign requirements.

With schools reopening on August 31, the initiative also reminds drivers to remain cautious, patient and responsible on UAE roads.
