Kangana Ranaut Naseeruddin Shah controversy

Kangana Ranaut has once again addressed her controversial comments about veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, explaining why she used the term “lomdi” and defending her criticism of his public statements.

The actor-turned-politician spoke about the controversy while discussing political protests, Bollywood’s response to social issues and what she described as a double standard in the industry.

Kangana explains her criticism of Naseeruddin Shah

Kangana said her remarks about Naseeruddin Shah were connected to his previous statements and a video that she found objectionable. According to her, the veteran actor has frequently spoken about Pakistan in his films, interviews and public comments.

Questioning this, Kangana asked why discussions surrounding Pakistan continue to remain a recurring theme. She argued that several decades have passed since Partition and questioned why the subject continues to receive such attention.

Her comments came after she previously described Shah using the term “lomdi”, or fox, while criticising his views.

Actor-politician refuses to withdraw remark

Rather than apologising for the statement, Kangana made it clear that she continues to stand by her choice of words.

She contrasted the idea of loyalty with what she considers to be Shah’s position on issues concerning India and Pakistan. Kangana also referred to her earlier comments in which she said that people may be loyal to different causes, but she takes pride in supporting the country she lives in.

The controversy has added to the ongoing exchange of sharply different political opinions between personalities from the Indian entertainment industry.

Kangana recalls protests outside her home

During the conversation, Kangana also brought up an incident involving protests outside her residence. She claimed that thousands of people gathered outside her home and that some protesters even reached the gates of her property.

According to Kangana, the situation required a significant police presence and created fear and disruption for her and those around her.

She used the incident to explain why she believes celebrities should be careful about selectively supporting protests and public movements.

Bollywood’s response questioned

Kangana also criticised what she sees as inconsistent reactions from members of the film industry toward protests involving young people.

She referred to demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and questioned why some celebrities were vocal about those protesters while allegedly remaining silent about young people facing difficulties elsewhere.

The actor-politician specifically mentioned the situation in Jharkhand and questioned whether young people there should also receive the same attention and sympathy.

Kangana argued that being part of Gen Z should not depend on whether young protesters support or oppose the government.

‘Crocodile tears’ comment sparks controversy

Kangana described some reactions from Bollywood personalities as “crocodile tears”, suggesting that their support for certain protests was motivated by political preferences rather than genuine concern for young people.

She called for the same level of concern to be shown toward students and youngsters facing problems in other parts of the country.

Her remarks are likely to fuel further debate, particularly because several Bollywood personalities have publicly expressed contrasting views on political and social issues.

Kangana and Naseeruddin Shah remain on opposite sides

The latest comments underline the significant ideological differences between Kangana and Naseeruddin Shah.

While Shah has frequently spoken publicly about social and political matters, Kangana has emerged as one of the more outspoken voices supporting the current government and its policies.

Their contrasting positions have previously triggered heated discussions on social media and among Bollywood audiences.

Kangana’s latest statement shows that she has no intention of stepping away from the controversy surrounding her comments.

Controversy continues

The dispute has become part of a wider discussion about freedom of expression, political disagreements within Bollywood and the role celebrities should play in public debates.

Kangana continues to use interviews and social media to express her political opinions, while her comments often attract strong reactions from supporters and critics alike.

Her latest defence of the “lomdi” remark is expected to keep the debate surrounding her comments about Naseeruddin Shah alive, particularly as both actors remain prominent voices with very different perspectives on India’s political and social landscape.
