The UAE has officially launched “Downtown Umm Al Quwain,” a major coastal development set to transform the emirate’s future. Covering 25 million square feet, the ambitious masterplan was unveiled during a ceremony led by top government officials.
Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, chaired the event. Moreover, the project features an 11km coastline, including 7km of natural beaches and landscaped parks.
Designed as a mixed-use destination, the development will be divided into three zones: North Beach, Trade Centre, and South Beach. Each area will offer residential communities, commercial hubs, office spaces, hotels, and a variety of recreational attractions.
At the core of the development, the Trade Centre will span 15 million square feet as a free zone. It will operate under an independent legal framework to attract businesses, investors, and cultural exchanges globally.
Speaking at the launch, Sheikh Rashid emphasized that large projects are vital for boosting the emirate’s economy. Furthermore, the project will strengthen Umm Al Quwain’s role as a destination for global commerce and tourism. “Downtown Umm Al Quwain” is being developed in collaboration with Sobha Realty, a leading real estate company.
The first phase will include residential units, office spaces, and hospitality offerings, catering to diverse community needs. Upon completion, the project aims to house over 150,000 residents, significantly enhancing the emirate’s population capacity.
Importantly, around half of the land will be dedicated to green spaces, pedestrian walkways, and public parks. The infrastructure has been thoughtfully designed to promote environmental sustainability and healthy urban living.
Additionally, government officials believe this development will position Umm Al Quwain as a highly attractive investment destination. They also see it as a vital step to attract new residents, businesses, and tourists in the coming years.
