A disturbing video has surfaced, revealing the last moments of a humanitarian convoy in Gaza. It was retrieved from the cellphone of an aid worker killed in the attack, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The footage, released on April 5, shows ambulances moving with headlights and emergency lights on. They are seen approaching a fire truck in Rafah, southern Gaza. Moments later, intense gunfire is heard.
The aid worker was one of 15 killed on March 23. Others included eight PRCS staff, six civil defense workers, and one UN employee. The UN and PRCS confirmed the attack and condemned it strongly.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military denied targeting ambulances. It claimed its soldiers fired on “terrorists” in “suspicious vehicles.” Military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said the vehicles had no clearance and were driving without lights.
However, the PRCS video challenges these claims. It shows clearly marked vehicles with lights on. The footage lasts 6 minutes and 42 seconds.
In the video, ambulances and a firetruck move through the night. Continuous automatic gunfire is heard in the background. Two uniformed men are seen stepping out beside another vehicle.
One medic says, “The vehicle, the vehicle.” Another replies, “It seems to be an accident.” Suddenly, gunfire erupts again, and the screen goes black.
The PRCS identified the video source as Rifat Radwan, one of the victims. “This footage disproves Israeli claims,” the organization said. “It shows ambulances targeted despite visible emergency signals.”
Later, PRCS spokesperson Nebal Farsakh briefed reporters. She said Israeli troops “opened fire frantically and hysterically.” She also mentioned that one medic, named Assad, is still missing. “We believe he has been arrested,” she added.
In response, the Israeli military said it was reviewing the incident. “All claims and video evidence will be thoroughly examined,” a statement read.
Meanwhile, Hamas described the footage as “damning evidence” of Israeli brutality. The group also accused Israeli forces of covering up the incident by burying victims in mass graves.
The UN confirmed the discovery of a mass grave near Rafah. OCHA reported that the first team was responding to civilian emergency calls. Other teams sent for rescue were also attacked.
Throughout the video, one medic can be heard reciting the Islamic declaration of faith. His voice trembles as gunfire continues.
He says, “There is no God but God, Mohammed is his messenger.” He also says, “Forgive me, mother. I chose the path of helping people.” Then he pleads, “Accept my martyrdom, God. Forgive me.”
Just before the footage ends, he shouts, “The Jews are coming!” A Hebrew-speaking voice replies, “Wait, we’re coming. We’re not responsible — you are responsible.” The identity of the speaker remains unknown.
The killings drew global outrage. UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk said the attack could amount to war crimes. “I am appalled by the killings of 15 humanitarian workers,” Turk told the UN Security Council.
Jonathan Whittall of OCHA said the victims were found “still in uniform, wearing gloves.” An Israeli official later stated the bodies were covered with sand and cloth for preservation.
