American University of Sharjah (AUS) marked its 25th annual Global Day with a vibrant celebration. The event showcased cultures, traditions, and performances. Thousands of students, faculty, and visitors gathered for this spectacular two-day festival. It highlighted the university’s commitment to diversity and cultural exchange.

With 2025 declared the UAE’s Year of Community, Global Day embraced this theme. The event emphasized cultural exchange as a tool for fostering inclusivity. It promoted understanding and a sense of belonging. These are core values of both AUS and the UAE’s vision for a united society.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi Opens Global Day

Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS, inaugurated the event. This reinforced the university’s role as a center for global collaboration. Participation increased significantly, with 36 cultural clubs taking part. This represented a nearly 25% increase from the previous year. The event featured immersive pavilions, performances, and interactive activities. Attendees explored the traditions of 90 nationalities represented at AUS.

The celebrations took place across multiple venues, including the Main Auditorium and Plaza. The campus transformed into a global stage. Student-led pavilions offered visitors a journey through history, art, and cuisine. The experience was engaging and immersive.

Emirati Cultural Club: “Between The Desert and The Sea”

The Emirati Cultural Club honored the UAE’s rich heritage with its theme. “Between The Desert and The Sea” showcased the nation’s deep-rooted traditions. The pavilion reflected life from the vast dunes of Liwa to the pearl-diving culture. Visitors enjoyed hands-on activities such as painting shells and making pearl necklaces. They also played traditional board games. These experiences provided a glimpse into the UAE’s historical way of life.

Global Day reinforced AUS’s reputation as a diverse institution. The university ranks among the UAE’s top five universities for its international student ratio. It also holds the third spot in the Arab region. The event showcased AUS’s commitment to fostering a multicultural learning environment. Students proudly celebrated and shared their heritage.
