Ambassador Tirmizi, in a significant meeting with His Excellency Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), expressed his gratitude for SBA’s support of Pakistani authors and publishers at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). Mr. Al Ameri praised Pakistan’s vibrant literary heritage and introduced the Sharjah Lightningsource initiative, a platform allowing global authors, including Pakistanis, to share their works with an international audience.
Ambassador Tirmizi commended the SBA for its dedication to promoting literacy and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to enhancing Pakistani participation in future events. He also met with His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi of Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone to discuss the UAE’s support for the publishing industry and Sharjah’s development as a cultural center.
During his visit, Ambassador Tirmizi engaged with Pakistani publishers and distributors, recognizing their role in advancing Urdu literature. He applauded Mr. Sarmad Khan at the Urdu Book World stall for his contributions and met with other distributors, including Ink and Pixels Publications, Darussalam International LLC, and Qudrat Ullah Company Publications.
The Ambassador showed particular interest in a publication by Shah Wali Ullah Mohaddis Dehlivi from the Ibn Al Arabi Foundation, originally published by the Rahimia Institute in Lahore and now distributed globally.
Ambassador Tirmizi’s visit underscored the shared vision for cultural exchange and literary collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE, strengthening ties and fostering mutual cultural enrichment.
