The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its visa waiver programme for Indian nationals and their families. This applies to those holding regular passports. Effective from February 13, 2024, Indian passport holders can now enter the UAE with valid visas, residency permits, or green cards. Previously, only those with valid documents from the United States, European Union nations, and the United Kingdom were eligible.
New Eligibility Criteria
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has confirmed this update. Now, Indian passport holders with valid residency permits from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada can enter visa-free. This expansion makes travel more convenient and accessible.
Seamless Entry Process
Under this programme, eligible visitors can enter the UAE without obtaining a prior visa. Upon arrival, entry visas will be issued at all designated entry points. However, passports must have a minimum validity of six months. Additionally, the necessary fees must be paid as per UAE regulations.
Visa Fees and Validity
According to the ICP, the visa fee structure for Indian nationals and their families is as follows:
14-day entry visa: Dh100.
14-day visa extension: Dh250.
60-day visa: Dh250.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
This initiative highlights the strong historical and cultural ties between the UAE and India. By simplifying travel, it offers Indian nationals more opportunities for tourism, work, and residency.
Experts believe this move will make the UAE more attractive as a global destination. Additionally, it is expected to bring skilled professionals and entrepreneurs from India. Consequently, it will further solidify the UAE’s status as an international business and economic hub.
