Dubai to get world’s tallest wellbeing resort by 2028

Dubai

Dubai will soon host the world’s tallest wellbeing resort. This project is part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, announced this on Tuesday.

The landmark resort, ‘Therme Dubai,’ will rise 100 meters high. It will be situated at Zabeel Park. The resort is scheduled to open in 2028, promising to become a pivotal attraction in the city.

Dubai has allocated AED 2 billion for the development of this innovative project. Furthermore, the new destination will include an interactive park and the world’s largest indoor botanical garden. It aims to welcome 1.7 million visitors annually.

Spanning 500,000 square feet, the resort will comprise three dedicated zones. These will focus on ‘restoring, relaxing, and playing.’ Each area is designed to promote physical and mental well-being.

Commitment to Sustainability and Urban Biodiversity

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the project’s role in enhancing Dubai’s urban biodiversity and sustainability efforts. He said, “This innovative project reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability and creating enriching experiences for Dubai’s residents and visitors.”

Therme Dubai is the region’s first-of-its-kind wellbeing resort and interactive garden. It aligns with Dubai’s ongoing mission to enhance the quality of life and community well-being.

Environmental Milestones

In 2024, Dubai planted 216,500 trees. This marked a 17% increase from the previous year. The announcement coincided with National Environment Day, underscoring Dubai’s environmental achievements.

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to international climate action. Additionally, he emphasized collective global responsibility. Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts toward sustainability and environmental conservation.

Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033

Launched in May 2024, the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 aims to position the emirate as the world’s best place to live. This initiative focuses on creating a pedestrian-, environment-, and family-friendly city. Residents will access services seamlessly within 20 minutes.

Key developments under the strategy include:

Over 200 new parks

300% expansion of cycling tracks along beaches

60% increase in night swimming beach lengths

A dedicated beach exclusively for women

The comprehensive plan also encompasses enhancements to Dubai’s outlying areas. This will transform the city into a hub of well-being and environmental sustainability.
