Arijit Singh is included in the Padma Awards 2025 which were announced on Saturday, just before Republic Day. These awards celebrate extraordinary achievements in various fields.

The awards, instituted in 1954, recognize excellence in Art, Literature, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, and Science, among others. They honor individuals who inspire future generations with their contributions to society.

The Padma Shri is India’s fourth-highest civilian award. It follows the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, and Padma Bhushan in rank.

Arijit Singh Receives Padma Shri for Musical Brilliance

Among the awardees, playback singer Arijit Singh stands out. He is known for iconic Bollywood songs like “Channa Mereya” and “Tum Hi Ho.” His soulful voice has made him a household name.

Notable Padma Shri Awardees of 2025

The 2025 Padma Shri list includes individuals who excelled in various fields. Here are some notable recipients:

Datchanamoorthy: He is a Thavil instrumentalist with over 50 years of experience. Starting at 15, he performed at more than 15,000 events. His work has preserved South Indian classical music traditions.

Jagdish Joshila: A celebrated Nimadi and Hindi author, he has written over 50 books. His novels, poetry, and plays focus on historical and patriotic themes.

Naren Gurung: This versatile artist has dedicated 60 years to Sikkimese Nepali folk music and dance. His work preserves these traditions for future generations.

Bheru Singh Chouhan: Known for his Malvi bhajans, he has performed since age 9. For over 50 years, he has brought alive verses of Sant Kabir and other mystics.

The Padma Vibhushan will recognize Kathak legend Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia and violinist Lakshminarayana Subramaniam. Both have made exceptional contributions to Indian classical arts.

Additionally, renowned Malayalam author MT Vasudevan Nair, who passed away in December 2024, will receive the Padma Vibhushan posthumously.

The Padma Bhushan awardees include Kannada actor Anant Nag, Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna, Tamil actor S. Ajith Kumar, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and actress Shobana Chandrakumar. Veteran ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas will also be posthumously honored.
