The Philippine missions in the UAE have released instructions for Filipinos seeking UAE visa amnesty, including details on how to request a replacement for lost passports.
Workers who ran away from their employers can ask at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai if their passports have been handed back to them.
If the passport is not included in the ones given to the embassy or consulate, the applicant needs to report the loss to the police and ask for a certificate for the lost passport. In Dubai, this is achievable using either the Dubai Police’s website or mobile app. The police station with jurisdiction over the area where the visa was issued can also help obtain lost passport certificates.
Requirements
- Applicant’s physical appearance
- Copy of the front page of missing passport (if possible)
- Official document issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for recording a person’s birth. When details in the birth certificate from PSA are unclear, a copy from the LCR must be provided. A PSA-authenticated birth certificate is necessary if the applicant was born outside the country.
- A legitimate identification document along with 3 copies
- Affidavit of loss completed at the Philippine embassies (original and 2 photocopies)
- Police report given by the police with translation into English (original and 2 copies).
- Additional documents that may need to be provided
Fees
Filipino citizens who have misplaced their passport must fork out Dh600 for a new one. They must also shell out Dh100 for the affidavit of loss paperwork.
Information on how to apply for a new passport for minors and renew expired passports can be found on the Philippine Consulate website.
Document for travel
Individuals who are not able to obtain a passport during the amnesty period should request a travel document as a replacement for the lost or expired passport.
