Sharjah expands “healthy cities” program to include more residents

Sharjah is taking a big step towards a healthier future! The Emirate recently announced plans to expand its successful “Healthy Cities” program, bringing its benefits to more residents.

The program, aligned with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines, focuses on creating healthy environments for people to live, work, and play. This means better access to healthcare services, cleaner air and water, and opportunities for physical activity.

During a recent meeting, the Sharjah Health Authority, led by Dr. Abdelaziz Al Muhairi, discussed the program’s expansion to include the cities of Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Al Dhaid. These cities join Sharjah’s existing program, ensuring a wider range of residents can enjoy its advantages.

Dr. Al Muhairi emphasized Sharjah’s commitment to providing the highest quality of life for its residents. He praised various government agencies and departments for their contributions to the program’s success so far.

To ensure a smooth transition for the newly included cities, Dr. Al Muhairi proposed forming dedicated coordination committees. These committees will undergo training to meet WHO’s strict health and environmental standards.

The expansion plan also focuses on strengthening existing partnerships between government institutions and the community. Increased resident participation and interaction are key to the program’s long-term success.

Sharjah’s commitment to the “Healthy Cities” program reflects its leadership’s vision for a healthy and thriving emirate. By prioritizing resident well-being and environmental sustainability, Sharjah is setting a strong example for other cities in the region.
