The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow warning for dust across the UAE today, Friday, May 24th. While most of the country can expect pleasant weather with slightly cooler temperatures, be prepared for hazy conditions that could impact your visibility.
The NCM warns that horizontal visibility might drop below 2,000 meters in some areas between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. This can make driving hazardous, so if you’re on the road during this time, be extra cautious.
Abu Dhabi Police echoed this warning, urging motorists to exercise caution and adjust their speed according to the electronic information boards. Remember, these boards display changing speed limits based on real-time visibility conditions.
Temperatures today are expected to reach highs of 40°C (104°F) in Abu Dhabi and 36°C (97°F) in Dubai. Light to moderate winds are forecast, which could stir up dust throughout the day.
While the Arabian Gulf will see moderate to rough seas, the Oman Sea will experience rough seas in the morning, transitioning to moderate to slight conditions later in the day.
So, UAE residents, if you’re heading out today, be prepared for potentially dusty conditions, especially if you’re driving. Slow down, follow the posted speed limits, and stay safe!
