Cats and campuses go together like textbooks and backpacks, but at the Vermont State University’s Castleton campus, one feline has taken the student-faculty relationship to a whole new level: Dr. Max!
This charismatic cat, known for his love of cuddles and campus adventures, has been officially awarded an honorary doctorate degree – Doctor of Litter-ature, no less!
Max’s journey to becoming a campus icon began four years ago. He lives with his human family near the university entrance and has become a regular fixture, strolling around campus, greeting students, and even joining in on the occasional frisbee game (well, mostly for the enthusiastic head pats that follow).
University officials were charmed by Max’s social nature and his knack for making students smile during stressful exam periods. In recognition of his positive presence on campus, they decided to honor him with the prestigious (and punny) doctorate.
“Max has been a beloved member of the Castleton family for years,” the university stated on social media. Students can’t resist picking him up for a cuddle or snapping a selfie with their furry friend. Max’s fame has even reached alumni, with graduates returning to campus inquiring about their favorite feline doctor.
While Max himself won’t be attending the graduation ceremony (cat naps are important too!), his diploma will be presented to his human mom, Ashley Dow. This heartwarming story is sure to melt the hearts of internet users everywhere, proving that sometimes, the best therapy sessions on campus come with a purr and a wagging tail.
