Sharjah Police have launched a detailed investigation into the Al Nahda Tower fire that erupted on the morning of April 13. The fire broke out on one of the upper floors of the 52-storey residential building, which is home to more than 1,500 residents from different nationalities.
At 11:31 AM on Sunday, emergency services received the alert. Within minutes, Sharjah Police, Civil Defence, and National Ambulance teams rushed to the scene. Access routes were quickly cleared, allowing emergency vehicles to reach the site without delay. Teams began evacuating residents while containing the flames.
In addition to the emergency responders, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority joined efforts on the ground. Their teams provided immediate support to affected families and helped coordinate relief operations. The combined efforts aimed to ensure the safety of all residents and reduce further harm.
Tragically, five lives were lost in the fire. Nineteen others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. Hundreds of residents were safely evacuated from the building during the emergency response.
Colonel Dr Ahmed Saeed Al-Naour, Director General of the General Administration for Operations and Security Support, extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He also wished a swift recovery for the injured and praised the efforts of the rescue teams.
Meanwhile, Sharjah Police have assigned specialised teams to determine the cause of the fire. Forensic experts and the criminal laboratory are carrying out detailed inspections of the site. These steps are part of the legal procedures to uncover how the fire started and whether any negligence was involved.
