Saudi Arabia has announced new rules for residents and visitors ahead of Hajj 2025. These aim to ensure a safe and organized pilgrimage season.
Umrah pilgrims must follow new entry guidelines
First, Umrah pilgrims must obtain a visa to enter Saudi Arabia. Then, they need an Umrah permit through the Nusuk app. Moreover, the Ministry advises pilgrims to use only licensed operators for travel and accommodation services.
Key dates for Umrah entry and exit
– Last date to enter Saudi Arabia for Umrah: Sunday, 15 Shawwal 1446 AH (April 13, 2025)
– Last date to leave after Umrah: Tuesday, 1 Dhul-Qi’dah 1446 AH (April 29, 2025)
Starting Wednesday, 25 Shawwal 1446 AH (April 23, 2025), entry to Makkah will be restricted. Residents must show a valid Haj permit, a work permit, or a resident ID issued from the capital. Furthermore, Umrah permits via the Nusuk platform will be paused from April 29 to June 10, 2025.This move helps reduce congestion during the peak Hajj 2025 period.
Tourists and visa holders barred from Makkah
From April 29, 2025, only Hajj visa holders can enter or stay in Makkah. All other visa holders will be denied entry. This rule applies regardless of visa type or purpose.
