Sharjah announces Ramadan food preparation permits

Restaurants in Sharjah can now apply for permits to prepare and sell food during daylight hours throughout Ramadan 2025. The Sharjah City Municipality has introduced two types of permits, each with different fees, for eateries wishing to operate during the holy month.

On Monday, the Sharjah City Municipality announced the commencement of permit issuance for food preparation and sales during Ramadan. Additionally, permits are also available for displaying food outside establishments before Iftar.

According to the latest astronomical calculations, Ramadan is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1. It will likely last for 30 days.

Permit for Food Preparation in Ramadan

Eateries are allowed to prepare and serve food during fasting hours. However, they must meet the following conditions:

Permit Issuance: All food preparation and sales sites, including those within shopping malls, must obtain a permit.

Off-Site Service:
Do not receive customers in dining areas. Instead, serve food off-site.

Kitchen-Only Cooking:
Prepare and cook food only in kitchen areas.

Permit Fee: The issuance fee for this permit is Dh3,000.

Permit for Food Display Outside Shops in Ramadan

Restaurants, cafeterias, sweet shops, and bakeries can apply for a permit to display food outside their establishments. However, they must follow these conditions:

Display Location:
You can display food on the front sidewalk, provided the surface is not sandy.

Container Requirements:
Place food in non-corrosive metal containers. Display it in a glass box (at least 100 cm) with a sliding or hinged door.

Food Packaging:
Cover the food with aluminium foil or transparent food-grade plastic. Package it using food-grade materials.

Storage Conditions:
Store the displayed food at an appropriate temperature, but do not chill or freeze it.

On-Site Preparation:
Prepare all displayed food at the establishment.

It must align with its permitted activity.

Permit Fee: The issuance fee for this permit is Dh500.

Eateries in Sharjah can apply for these permits through the following service centers:

Municipal Drawing Center (Al Nasiriyah), Tasareeh Center, Al Raqam Wahed Center,  Municipality 24 Center, Al Saqr Center, Al Rolla Center, Al Khalidiya Center, Al Suraa Wa Al Diqah Center, Saif Center, Al Malomat Center, Al Saada Center, Tawjeeh Center

Eateries are encouraged to apply early to ensure compliance with Sharjah Municipality’s regulations during Ramadan 2025.
