Sharjah ruler appoints Hoor Al Qasimi head of Sharjah Creative

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi issued a decree appointing Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi. She has been named head of the Sharjah Creative Quarter (SCQ).

The SCQ is an initiative promoting innovation, artistic expression, and entrepreneurship in Sharjah. With Sheikha Hoor’s leadership, it will elevate Sharjah’s position as a cultural and creative hub.

Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi is a recognized cultural leader. She serves as President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF). She established SAF in 2009 to support art, community engagement, and cultural initiatives. The foundation has become a global platform, hosting exhibitions, residencies, and the renowned Sharjah Biennial.

Hoor Al Qasimi earned a Fine Arts degree from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. She also holds a master’s in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London. Her expertise has earned her roles in prestigious organizations like the Venice Biennale and MoMA PS1.

In addition, Sheikha Hoor’s extensive experience has fostered growth in Sharjah’s art scene. Her work supports artists, curators, and cultural thinkers globally.

Her new role aligns with her commitment to nurturing creativity and empowering talent. She will bring strategic insights to SCQ’s development. This appointment reinforces Sharjah’s dedication to cultural growth and creative innovation.
