Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has praised his son Junaid Khan’s performance in the upcoming rom-com Loveyapa. After attending a special screening, he shared his thoughts on the film. The actor also compared Khushi Kapoor’s portrayal in the film to her late mother, Sridevi. He highlighted her energy and talent, making a strong connection to her legacy.
Loveyapa marks Junaid Khan’s first theatrical release, following his debut in Maharaja. The latter premiered on an OTT platform. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharvari. Scheduled to hit theatres on February 7, the movie explores modern relationships. It humorously showcases the impact of technology on daily life.
Sharing his excitement about the project, Junaid said, “This role is very different from my character in Maharaja. It was challenging as an actor. It’s thrilling to have my first theatrical release.”

Aamir Khan shared his thoughts after watching the film’s rough cut. He stated, “The movie is highly entertaining. It humorously captures how cellphones influence our lives. All the actors delivered excellent performances. When I watched Khushi Kapoor, I felt like I was watching Sridevi. Her energy and essence were strikingly similar to her mother’s. I’ve always been a fan of Sridevi’s brilliance and charisma on screen.
Khushi Kapoor, daughter of Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, made her acting debut last year. She appeared in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies on Netflix. The film also introduced Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, and Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan.
Aamir Khan also shed light on Junaid’s simple lifestyle. He shared, “Junaid often uses auto-rickshaws for commuting. It’s reflective of how we live our lives. I even suggested he buy a car,” he added with a smile. Aamir also recalled his own modest habits during the early days of mobile phones in India.
Directed by Advait Chandan, known for Laal Singh Chaddha, Loveyapa is produced by Phantom Studios and AGS Entertainment. The filmmakers describe it as a “tangled tale of love and its complications, blending humor and heart to deliver a cinematic treat.”
The movie’s title track has already generated buzz, receiving accolades from Bollywood superstars. Shah Rukh Khan shared his enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Such a sweet song. Gentle like Junaid. All the best, Khushi. Big love to the #Loveyapa couple and team.” Salman Khan also expressed his support for the film.
With its unique storyline, promising performances, and a stellar team behind it, Loveyapa is poised to be a must-watch for audiences.
