Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 2025 with a spectacular drone and fireworks show, achieving two new Guinness World Records. This extraordinary event combined innovation, creativity, and cultural pride, captivating a global audience.
Two Guinness World Records for Ras Al Khaimah
The emirate earned records for the “largest aerial display of a tree formed by drones” and the “largest aerial image of a seashell.” The breathtaking show, titled Our Story in the Sky, redefined how the world celebrates New Year’s Eve.
Featuring 1,400 drones, synchronized fireworks, and laser effects, the display illuminated five kilometers of Ras Al Khaimah’s waterfront. Notably, the first record showcased an intricate seashell with 982 elements, while the second displayed a stunning tree formation created by 1,400 drones.
To ensure accuracy, Guinness World Records official adjudicator Emma Brain explained the strict verification process. Furthermore, specific guidelines tailored for drone displays—750 for the seashell and 1,200 for the tree—were followed meticulously.
Honoring Heritage Through Innovation
The event highlighted Ras Al Khaimah’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage through three themed acts:
- Shifting Sands portrayed the Emirate’s evolving ecosystem, symbolizing a timeless connection to the land.
- Mysteries of the Sea honored maritime traditions, including pearl diving, through stunning underwater visuals.
- Guiding Starlight celebrated the Emirate’s seafaring history with celestial imagery and shooting stars representing navigation.
Finally, the grand finale dazzled with pyrotechnics, leaving attendees in awe. Over 100,000 residents and visitors gathered at beachfront resorts and the New Year 2025 Festival to witness the event.

Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, shared his excitement about the achievement. “Securing two Guinness World Records reflects our innovative spirit and cultural pride,” he said. Moreover, he emphasized the Emirate’s commitment to creating even more unforgettable experiences in the future.
