Sharjah Ruler Awarded by Guinness for Arabic Dictionary

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received a Guinness World Records certificate on Wednesday. This recognition celebrates the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language as the largest and most comprehensive historical linguistic project globally, comprising 127 volumes.

Recognition of a Historic Achievement

During the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan congratulated everyone involved in achieving this significant milestone. He highlighted the dictionary’s immense scientific value and the unparalleled effort behind its creation. Furthermore, he acknowledged the dedication of researchers, scholars, editors, proofreaders, and publishing teams.

He expressed special appreciation for the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah and scholars from across the Arab world. Their collective contributions have significantly enriched Arabic lexicography and ensured the preservation of the language’s history.

Key attendees included, Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Arabic Language Academy, Engineer Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, Director-General of University City, Dr. Amhamed Safi Al-Mustghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, Emma Lewis, Guinness World Records judge from the United Kingdom, Kamel Yassin, Regional Director for Guinness World Records in the Middle East and Turkey.
