The UAE’s government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, UAEV, has confirmed updated charging tariffs starting January 2025. Under the revised structure, DC chargers will cost Dh1.20 per kWh, plus VAT, while AC chargers will be available at Dh0.70 per kWh, plus VAT.

This change represents a major step toward boosting the sustainability and scalability of the UAE’s EV charging infrastructure. While EV charging services have remained free since the initial introduction of tariffs in May, these updated fees aim to enhance operational efficiency and support the network’s expansion.

To elevate user experience further, UAEV will roll out a dedicated mobile app in January. This app will provide live updates on charging station availability, locations, and streamlined payment options. Moreover, UAEV plans to launch a 24/7 call center to offer instant assistance and ensure a smooth experience for all EV drivers.

Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, emphasized the importance of these initiatives. He said, “Standardized tariffs and innovative solutions like the UAEV app and 24/7 support show our dedication to EV drivers. By expanding the network and supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, we are driving a cleaner, greener future.”

UAEV has ambitious plans to grow its charging network significantly by 2030. The organization intends to install 1,000 strategically placed chargers across urban areas, highways, and transit points. These chargers will cover all emirates, ensuring convenient access for both inter-city and intra-city EV users.

This network expansion aligns with the UAE’s broader goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable transportation and renewable energy. By focusing on advanced infrastructure and user-friendly solutions, UAEV accelerates the nation’s transition to eco-friendly mobility.

For the latest updates on new tariffs, app features, and charging locations, EV users are encouraged to visit UAEV’s official website or download the app. These measures reflect the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and its active promotion of electric vehicle adoption across the nation.
