Saudi Arabia has successfully won the bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, marking a historic achievement. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the decision after a vote by national football associations.

 

Infantino expressed his excitement, stating, “The 2034 World Cup will celebrate 100 years of FIFA tournaments and promises to be extraordinary. The unanimous support from all federations reflects the Kingdom’s exceptional preparations and vision for the future.”

 

On December 1, FIFA revealed the technical evaluation results, which showcased Saudi Arabia’s bid as the highest-rated in FIFA history. Scoring 419.8 out of 500 points, the Kingdom demonstrated its readiness to host the prestigious global event.

Five major cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and Neom will host this tournament. Matches will take place in 15 stadiums. Among these, 10 venues will be newly constructed, while five existing stadiums in Riyadh and Jeddah will undergo significant upgrades.

 

Saudi Arabia’s bid highlights its ambitious plans to host the first 48-team World Cup in a single country. FIFA had initially revealed these details in July 2023, emphasizing the scale and significance of this milestone event.

Official Bid for 2034 FIFA World Cup

The Saudi Football Federation officially submitted its bid to FIFA on October 9, 2023, in Paris. Following this, the Federation launched its campaign identity on March 1, 2024. With the slogan “Growing. Together.” and a dedicated website, Saudi2034bid.com, the bid promotes unity and global collaboration.

 

Hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup represents a key pillar of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy. This aligns with its goals of economic diversification, global partnerships, and promoting sports as a unifying force.

 

The event is expected to boost tourism, enhance cultural exchange, and showcase Saudi Arabia’s rapid infrastructure advancements. It further solidifies the Kingdom’s growing influence on the global sports stage.
