Multiple Crashes in UAE as Drivers Run Red Lights

UAE

Abu Dhabi Police recently released a 66-second video showing three accidents caused by drivers running red lights. The footage highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the severe consequences of ignoring traffic signals.

In the first incident, an SUV attempted a left turn at a red light without noticing the signal. At the same time, a 4WD approached from the opposite direction and tried to avoid the SUV. Unfortunately, it was too late, and the vehicles collided, causing both to spin dangerously after the impact.

Another crash involved a white SUV speeding through a red light. A sedan coming from the right side slammed into its side, unable to stop in time. In a third accident, a dark sedan ignored a left-turn signal and crashed into a 4WD, causing significant damage.

Abu Dhabi Police emphasized that red-light violations are among the most dangerous traffic offenses. Drivers caught running red lights face a Dh1,000 fine, 12 traffic points, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. To retrieve the impounded car, violators must pay an additional Dh50,000 penalty.

To prevent such accidents, the police urged motorists to stay focused and avoid distractions. They noted that many red-light violations occur because drivers are using their phones. Some drivers were seen browsing the Internet or making calls while behind the wheel.

Running a red light not only endangers the violator but also puts the lives of other road users at risk. The police advised drivers to approach intersections cautiously and always obey traffic signals. Simple measures, such as staying alert and avoiding distractions, can significantly reduce accidents.

Additionally, the police called on motorists to prioritize road safety at all times. By respecting traffic laws and staying focused, drivers can help create safer roads for everyone.

The video shared by Abu Dhabi Police serves as a powerful reminder of the life-threatening risks of reckless driving. These preventable crashes highlight the need for strict adherence to traffic rules and greater awareness of road safety.
