Dubai to introduce flexible Salik Toll and parking fees

Salik Toll

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced major changes to Salik toll and parking fees, starting in 2025. These updates aim to enhance traffic management and optimize parking usage throughout the city.

New Salik Toll Pricing Details

The Variable Salik Toll Pricing system will take effect by the end of January 2025. Motorists can enjoy toll-free access between 1am and 6am.

– On weekdays, tolls will cost Dh6 during peak hours, from 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm.

– Off-peak hours, from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am, will have reduced tolls of Dh4.

– On Sundays, except during holidays or special events, tolls will remain Dh4 all day and free early morning.

Flexible Parking Fees

By March 2025, the Variable Parking Tariff Policy will introduce time-based parking rates to improve availability and convenience.

– Premium parking will cost Dh6 per hour, while regular parking will be Dh4 during peak hours, from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm.

– During off-peak hours, from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 10pm, the rates remain the same. Parking will be free overnight from 10pm to 8am and all day on Sundays.

Event-Based Congestion Fees

Starting in February 2025, a Congestion Pricing Policy will apply during major events. Parking near event zones, like the Dubai World Trade Centre, will cost Dh25 per hour.

How Motorists Are Responding to Salik Toll

These changes are prompting Dubai residents to reconsider their travel habits. Many plan to take advantage of toll-free hours by commuting earlier or later.

However, some drivers worry about the added costs, especially those with fixed schedules. Many are considering alternatives like carpooling, public transport, or requesting extra transport allowances from employers.
